TMP renews Professional Development Partnership with the IHE
TMP has renewed its Professional Development Partnership with the Institute of Highway Engineers, continuing a relationship that supports knowledge sharing, professional development and closer cooperation across the highways sector.
The IHE’s Professional Development Partnership programme brings together highways businesses, local authorities, academic institutions and other industry organisations. Its aim is to support practitioners, encourage industry-standard training and help organisations work together to develop skills across highways and transportation.
For TMP, renewing the partnership is about remaining part of the conversations shaping the future of the sector.
Suzanne Day, Managing Director at TMP, said:
“We chose to renew our partnership with the IHE because it is important for TMP to be part of the wider conversation around the future of highways. Through the PDP, our team are able to deliver lunch and learn sessions to local authorities and contractors, sharing practical knowledge while also hearing directly about the challenges engineers are facing. That two-way exchange has been extremely valuable to us, helping TMP stay connected, informed and relevant to those specifying and using our products.”
Sharing practical highways knowledge
One of the most important elements of the partnership is the opportunity for TMP’s team to share its experience with local authorities, contractors, consultants and other highways professionals.
Our lunch and learn sessions explore practical issues around the design, specification, installation and whole-life performance of highways products.
Topics can include:
- Traffic bollard specification
- Passive safety and product performance
- Circular infrastructure
- Embodied carbon and sustainability
- Sign lighting
- Active travel products
- Maintenance, replacement and whole-life value
The sessions are not simply product presentations. They are an opportunity to explore real applications, discuss current challenges and answer questions directly with the people designing, specifying, installing and maintaining highways infrastructure.
Supporting our team
The partnership is also valuable for the TMP team.
Keeping in regular contact with engineers, local authorities and contractors helps us understand how priorities are changing across the sector. It gives our technical team direct insight into the pressures faced on live schemes, from budgets and maintenance requirements to safety, sustainability and compliance.
That knowledge can then be shared across TMP, helping our wider team continue to develop its technical understanding and provide informed support to customers.
The partnership also creates opportunities to attend IHE events, contribute to technical meetings and participate in wider industry discussions.
Listening to local authorities and contractors
Professional development works both ways.
While our team can share its knowledge and experience, every session and industry event also gives us an opportunity to listen.
Feedback from local authorities and contractors helps TMP understand what is working, where challenges remain and what specifiers need from manufacturers.
These conversations can influence how we develop products, technical information and customer support. They help ensure that our approach remains grounded in the practical realities of designing, delivering and maintaining highways schemes.
Continuing our support for the IHE
Renewing the PDP follows TMP’s recent involvement as Gold Sponsor of the IHE Greater London Branch Conference.
The event brought together highways professionals from across London, including representatives from local authorities, contractors, consultants and manufacturers.
Being involved in events like this allows TMP to support the wider highways community while contributing to discussions around the issues affecting the sector.
Our renewed partnership means we can continue building those relationships, sharing knowledge and supporting the professional development of highways practitioners.
We look forward to continuing our work with the IHE over the coming year and meeting more highways professionals at future events.
