Evo-N Bollards Support Safer Access at Willenhall Station

Evo-N Bollards Installed at Willenhall Station Car Park

With rail services now back at Willenhall Station for the first time in more than 50 years, the site has become an important new gateway for the local community. Opened to passengers on 19 March 2026, the station is part of a major investment in reconnecting the area to the rail network and improving access to work, education and leisure.

As part of the finished scheme, TMP Evo-N bollards have been installed within the station car park to help guide drivers and improve visibility around key traffic islands.

At the entrance from the road into the car park, the Evo-N has been fitted onto recycled rubber traffic islands, creating a smart and practical gateway treatment. Elsewhere within the car park, Evo-N bollards have also been installed on more traditional tarmac and kerbed islands, helping provide a consistent look across the site while clearly marking traffic routes and protected areas.

A self-righting bollard built for busy environments

For a location like Willenhall Station, where vehicles, pedestrians and rail users all need to move around the site safely and clearly, visibility matters. The Evo-N is designed to stand out, helping drivers identify islands and layout changes early, both during the day and in low light.

What makes the Evo-N particularly well suited to schemes like this is that it combines a familiar, highly visible appearance with the practical benefits of a self-righting bollard. Following vehicle impact, the bollard is designed to rebound and return to position, helping reduce damage, maintain presentation and minimise the need for ongoing replacement works.

That resilience is a real advantage in busy car parks and access roads, where low-speed knocks can be common. Instead of a rigid solution that can quickly become damaged or require frequent maintenance, the Evo-N offers a more forgiving and durable approach.

The bollards used at Willenhall Station also support a lower-energy approach to visibility. Unlike traditional base-lit shell bollards, which rely on electricity, the Evo-N is retroreflective. That means it delivers strong visual performance without needing to be powered, helping reduce energy use while still providing a clear and effective traffic island marker.

For projects where durability, visibility and lower whole-life impact all matter, that is a strong combination.

Why the Evo-N works for sites like this

The installation at Willenhall Station is also a good example of how the Evo-N can work across different island types within the same scheme. Whether mounted on recycled rubber traffic islands at the gateway or on conventional tarmac and kerbed islands within the wider car park, the bollard provides a clean, coordinated finish and dependable performance.

As more transport schemes look to improve accessibility, reduce congestion and create better user experiences, products that are simple, robust and easy to live with have an important role to play. Willenhall Station is a good example of that in practice. Public information about the scheme highlights its role in improving connectivity, reducing pressure on the roads and making greener journeys more accessible for local people.
