World Food Day: Small actions that make a big difference

Every year on 16th October, organisations and communities around the world come together to recognise World Food Day, a global call to action to end hunger and build a fairer, more sustainable food system for everyone.

It is a day to highlight the growing issue of food insecurity, both globally and closer to home. Millions of people across the UK rely on food banks to get by, and demand continues to rise as the cost of living affects more families. While the challenge can feel overwhelming, every small act of kindness helps.

This week, our team members across the West Midlands and beyond have been making donations to their local food banks in recognition of World Food Day. From tins of soup and packets of pasta to everyday essentials, these contributions reflect TMP’s belief that even modest efforts, when made collectively, can have a real impact.

At TMP, our values of People, Planet, Profit remind us that sustainability is not just about materials and manufacturing. It is about looking after one another and supporting the communities we are part of. Making a food bank donation is one of the simplest ways to do that.

If everyone who reads this were to add just a few extra tins or packets to their weekly shop and drop them at a local collection point, it could make a huge difference to families in need this winter.

To find your nearest food bank, just search on Google or Facebook.

A small gesture, yes, but one that goes a long way.
