A brilliant day at the Olly Wilks Memorial Football Tournament, many £1000’s of pounds raised for 4 very worthwhile causes (will post when its all been counted) & 52 potential stem cell donors signed up for the Anthony Nolan Trust…. All that & a major party to celebrate Olly’s life hosted by yours truly at the Tenth Lock last night, not a bad way to spend the weekend….!

Thursday 13thApril 2017 was one of the most truly awful days where Olly Wilkes, son of Simon & Lyn & brother to Ben, tragically took his own life at the tender age of just 22 years old.
Olly’s passing has had such a devastating impact on not only his close family, but also to the wider community as a whole, and life will never be the same again for either his family or his wide circle of friends.
The Wilkes family have been known for nearly 20yrs for their generosity and community spirit, with all the family serving in various guises with Withymoor Colts AFC, one of the largest West Midlands football clubs affiliated to the Football Association.
On Saturday 19thMay 2018, we plan to hold the first annual football tournament in association with Withymoor Colts AFC to celebrate Olly’s short life, and also to raise much needed funds that will be equally shared by the following charities:

The event will be held at Thorns Collegiate Academy in Quarry Bank, West Midlands, followed by music & laughter at Tenth Lock Pub in Brierley Hill.
I’m extremely proud as a friend of the family that I have been asked to present & compere the event during the day, & also to play some of Olly’s favourite songs as the evening events take place.
